A mentorship program for women in graphic design

• A senior designer ready to take your career to the next level?

• Feeling stuck and don’t know what to do next?

• Dreaming about starting your own design studio?
• Wanting to join a global community of like-minded women smashing their goals?

Of course you do. Womentor is here to help you level up and empower you to be the best designer you can be.

Through Womentor, mentees have received promotions and payrises, established their own businesses, started public speaking, gained employment after maternity leave, became mentors to other designers, had the courage to leave jobs that weren’t fulfilling, and apply for jobs that were. During the 2019 program, one mentee was promoted to creative director, bringing us all one step closer to equality in our industry.

Womentor will run in 2021 across Australia. The program consists of six sessions focused on:

  • Business development
  • Career guidance
  • Leadership
  • Self promotion

  • One-on-one mentorship personalised to your situation, goals, needs, and challenges

  • Six structured sessions that will give you clarity, ideas, direction, and confidence

  • Professional career support throughout each stage of the program

  • Membership to an instant network of like-minded designers

  • Opportunities for creative collaboration

  • Access to the Womentor Slack group

  • Invitations to exclusive events and meetups

  • All program materials

Applications will open in late 2020 strictly on a first-come first-served basis. More information will be posted in the coming months.

"My mentor has been so supportive and encouraging throughout my transition into a creative director role. Her personal experience and insights she shared helped me gain perspective on the industry, giving me confidence in my ability. She helped me validate my gut feelings and gave me honest feedback on how I presented my work.

omentor is such an excellent platform for senior designers looking to make the next step in their career and provides the tools to achieve goals.”

Mentee, 2019

"I have absolutely loved the entire Womentor program, my mentor and the refreshed outlook I have on my career. I think the program is 100% worth it for any senior designer/creative who is wanting to figure out what’s next and how to get there. Having the support of an industry-leading mentor is an opportunity of a lifetime. Thank you X a million.”

Sarah Gross
Mentee, 2019

"Being a part of Womentor was an invaluable experience. With my mentor’s help, these past six months have been the most pivotal and productive time in my career. I was able to take on projects that I love, learn new skills, and set myself up to continue to take on leadership roles in my field.”

Mentee, 2019

“It’s deeply rewarding to be able to contribute to Womentor and inspire the careers of others. I wanted to do every little bit I can to help under-represented folk gain footholds and opportunities in industry that are afforded to others. I think the issue Womentor is tackling remains structurally essential and that support networks and mentoring are the strongest tool we have to addressing structural inequality.”

“I was apprehensive at first because a lot of these programs fall flat. Womentor provided a great roadmap for everyone and we were also able to improvise along the way. My mentee seems to be more focused and is extremely motivated. She's going to do great things!”

Meg Donohoe
Partner & Managing Director, DIA
Mentor, 2019

"It’s been a pleasure getting to know my mentee, and I’ve been really proud to see her career progression to creative director. It has been fabulous to offer support — sharing insights, ideas, interesting discussion and really just being there as an open, honest sound board.

The Womentor program really puts into practice the idea of women supporting women for career development, and I’m so glad to have made be part of it."
